Radiology

Hillcrest has the latest and most complete array of sophisticated equipment in our area to provide fast, accurate and less invasive diagnosis of a medical problem.

Our radiology department includes the largest nuclear medicine lab of its kind in any community hospital in Northeast Ohio, American College of Radiology approved units, a dedicated non-invasive vascular lab, OB and general color Doppler ultrasound, angiography and MRI. With more board-certified radiologists than any community hospital in this part of the state, we can provide your doctor with the latest, most accurate and detailed diagnostic information available.

From stereotactic mammography to a high field strength MRI to the three-headed gamma camera, only Hillcrest Hospital can provide the latest diagnostic radiology close to home. Beepers are provided for patients to allow them to visit our Atrium while waiting for the exam. We make ourselves available when you need us. Call (440) 312-4595.

Mammography

The Hillcrest Hospital Mammography Program is accredited by the American College of Radiology. To meet your needs, we offer expert care by board-certified radiologists and certified mammography technologists.

In addition to providing the diagnostic mammograms, we perform stereotactic core biopsies and Advanced Breast Biopsy Instrumentation (ABBI). This advanced technology reduces scarring, shortens recovery time and can be performed within an hour with the actual biopsy, only taking minutes.

All women between the ages of 35 - 40 should have a baseline mammogram. A mammogram should be performed yearly for women aver the age of 40. To schedule an appointment, call (216) 430-8400.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Hillcrest Hospital is proud to offer Magnetic Resonance Imaging services to patients. This latest innovation in diagnostic imaging produces extremely clear images of internal organs and tissues. The MRI system can examine the designated area from any direction or plane, with our high field strength magnet, enhancing the physician's ability to make a diagnosis by viewing the involved body part from multiple perspectives.

MRI and image production does not expose patients to radiation. For more information about MRI, call (440) 312-4797.

Nuclear Medicine

The nuclear medicine department at Hillcrest Hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures and treatment for a selected number of diseases, including treatments for hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.

Trained, certified, and experienced nuclear medicine technologists aid in preparing you for a pleasant imaging experience. Using very small amounts of radiopharmaceuticals that are either injected into your vein or ingested, images are created using an extremely sensitive radiation detector called a "gamma camera."

Our nuclear medicine department has some of the most state-of-the-art imaging cameras available, including a Three-Headed SPECT gamma camera, two Dual-Head gamma cameras, and a coincidence camera for PET Imaging.

Ultrasound

The Hillcrest Ultrasound Department is equipped with the latest equipment including an Acuson Unit, ATL Ultramark 9 HDI Unit and two ATL-3000 units for more accurate diagnosis. Sonographers registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) perform ultrasound of the abdomen, pelvis, breast, prostate and testicle as well as pregnancy/OB ultrasound. Ultrasound can also be used to guide biopsies of the breast and thyroid gland.
