Having a baby can be the most wonderful experience of a woman's life, but it can also be a time of questions and concerns.
At Hillcrest Hospital's Family Maternity Center, we know all about the joys and anxieties of pregnancy, birth and parenthood. After all, we help nearly 4,000 expectant families bring their babies into the world each year, and we're ready to help you.
From the time you learn you're pregnant, the physicians and staff of Hillcrest Hospital will be beside you - working to make your experience as healthy, pleasant and memorable as possible.
Preparing for the Birth
In order to become familiar and comfortable with our facility, we suggest that you register to visit the Family Maternity Center prior to your delivery. During the free, guided tour, you will have an opportunity to see our birthing rooms, postpartum rooms and nurseries. You will also receive information and procedures for admission, visitation and discharge. Adult and sibling tours are available.

Your Birth Experience
Hillcrest's Family Maternity Center provides a pleasant, homelike environment. Our birthing rooms for labor, delivery and recovery are attractively decorated and feature private bathrooms, low lighting, infant warmers, television and all the necessary monitoring equipment. Additionally, we offer specially equipped operating rooms for Caesarean births. Our delivery services, including anesthesia, are available around the clock, seven days a week, to ensure that we'll be ready when you are.
The Center's Level II Special Care Nursery provides 24-hour, seven-days-a-week coverage by board-certified neonatologists and neonatal practitioners for infants with special needs, including venilator assistance.
The nursing and professional staff can accomodate your birthing preferences and needs by working closely with your private obstetrician and/or midwife. You and your baby will receive individual care and teaching from highly experienced obstetrical nurses and lactation consultants.
Bringing Home Your Bundle of Joy
When your obstetrician or nurse midwife has determined your time for discharge from the hospital, the services of our Family Maternity Center and Childbirth and Parenting Education Program remain available to you. Hillcrest offers family/baby classes Monday through Friday mornings to ensure you and your baby are ready for the 11 a.m. discharge time.
The Childbirth and Parenting Education Program provides information and registration for classes and counseling for a myriad of women's health issues. New mothers are also encouraged to join our free New Mom's Discussion Group where experience, questions and concerns can be shared with other new moms and staff.
Should your newborn need medical attention, Hillcrest also offers pediatric care. Our Pediatric Emergency Department and inpatient Pediatric Unit work in conjunction with your baby's physician and are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
