Hillcrest Hospital ’s Pediatric Emergency Department is a part of The Children’s Hospital Pediatric Emergency Medicine Network. This network was created to bring together the strengths of The Children’s Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic, The Children’s Hospital outpatient practices, Cleveland Clinic community hospitals and independent community physicians to provide our community with the highest level of pediatric emergency care that is available.
Pediatric Emergency Care, Close to Home
Each year, 25 million sick or hurt children go to hospital emergency departments. A small percentage of these children are treated by physicians who are trained specifically for pediatric emergencies. In response to this need, Hillcrest Hospital offers a state-of-the-art Pediatric Emergency Department to diagnose and treat young patients.

Who Will Care for My Child?
The Pediatric Emergency Department is committed to providing superior care to children and adolescents, from birth through age 21.
As part of this commitment, the unit is staffed with specially trained clinicians including:
• Board-Certified/Prepared Pediatric Physicians
• Pediatric Emergency and Pediatric Intensive Care Physicians
• Nursing Staff Specializing in Pediatrics
• Nurses and Physicians Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Service
In other emergency departments, children commonly wait to be seen for several hours. At Hillcrest, the Pediatric Emergency Department is dedicated exclusively to children. The staff in the Pediatric Emergency Department knows how scared the children and parents are, so triage, assessment and treatment are completed as rapidly as possible.
Hours
Emergencies do not always happen during business hours. Consequently, Hillcrest’s Pediatric Emergency Department is open even when most pediatrician offices are closed. Pediatric emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
